Catching up!

Well, since it has been well over a week since my last blog I am realizing it is a lot harder than I thought. I am not exactly sure where all the hours in a day go but I do know that they go quickly. A lot has happened this past week. We had our first 60 degree day! Don't get too excited because it was followed with two days of snow. Considering it is practically the middle of April is it too much to ask for the snow to go away? I took the boys to the playground in our neighborhood and Evan had a blast. It was amazing to see how much more Evan was able to do on his own than the last time we were there 5 months ago. It was funny because he wanted to try things on his own but always let me know where he was. I wouldn't even ask him and he would tell me every few minutes "I'm right here Mommy." I met another mom at the playground that moved here from Texas. It was so refreshing to hear a southern accent! After talking for awhile we figured out that we go to the same church. I left the playground with a renewed since of hope that there are "normal" people that live here.

On Sunday my baby boy turned one!!! It was was also Michael's first day off since last Sunday so we enjoyed spending the day as a family. We took the boys to their first circus. I knew it was quite a gamble and they would either love it or hate it. They actually both really liked it. Evan loved seeing the elephants, bears, horses, and camels. The highlight for him was riding a little train. He is obsessed with trains! If you ask him what he saw at the circus he will tell you he saw the elephant poop! I guess that could be a little traumatizing. Noah just loved all the lights and sounds. Of course we all enjoyed the cotton candy and kettle corn!

On Monday I got a great surprise! My Friend Brooke and her little boy Aiden surprised me with a visit. It really did make my week! The boys loved playing with each other. We got to show them around and took them to the Mall of America theme park one day and the MN Children's Museum another day. I'll post some pictures if I can figure out how. We also celebrated Noah's birthday while they were here. All the boys really enjoyed opening gifts. Evan would pick one up and ask if it was for him. If we said no he chucked it and moved on to the next one. Noah really got into his cake! He definitely enjoyed it much more than Evan did at his first birthday.

Today I am kind of having a hard day. My boys are not in the best of moods. I am so unbelievably tired of Michael working ALL the time and feeling like a single parent. I am so bored and feel like I do the same thing over and over again every day. Most of all I am lonely! I just want to be around people that I know and who know me. People that love me and my boys no matter what. Not really sure what I can do about any of this but just needed to get it out. At least we leave for Florida in a week so I am sure that will help my case of the blues.

Two Blogs in one day!

Wow! I am pretty impressed with myself. Two blogs in one day feels like an accomplishment. Actually I feel like I was able to accomplish several things today. Trust me, that doesn't happen every day.

Today is Michael's 28th Birthday. I can't believe we are almost in our 30's! It is also very weird to think that I have known him since he was 16. Sometimes that feels like forever ago and sometimes it seems like yesterday. Oh well, almost 6 years of marriage and two kids later here we are! Evan definitely can't grasp the whole birthday thing yet. It is Especially confusing to him since Noah's birthday is in 3 days. Anytime we talk about Noah's birthday coming up Evan says "Yeah and mine too!" I don't suppose he will get it anytime soon considering that my mom, Michael's mom, and Amanda have all said that they were sending Evan something too. I hope we aren't starting a bad habit. :-)

Our day started out earlier than usual. For some reason both boys have been waking up at 7:00 instead of their usual 8 or 8:30. I am really hoping this comes to an end quickly. I really wouldn't mind getting up that early (although it is not my ideal) but I can tell that they are not ready to face the day at 7:00. They are miserable for the first hour of the day. It just doesn't get us started off on the right foot. The day turned out pretty good despite our early and grouchy start. Michael worked open to close, as usual, today. We met him at work for lunch. Since I knew he wouldn't be home until 8 or 9 I decided to take cupcakes to the jewelry store. Evan enjoyed "helping" me make them. Our only catastrophe was Evan spilling vegetable oil on his shirt and jeans that he had only been wearing for approximately 20 minutes. Oh well, worse things have happened. I realized that I have not made cupcakes in a long time. It took forever to ice them! Then again last time I made them I probably didn't have one kid begging me to eat the icing and another kid hanging on my legs crying to be picked up. They were definitely worth it! Evan loves going to the jewelry store. He runs around like he owns the place. I think he just really likes the fact that he has an audience. What can I say? He is his fathers child! All of the excitement wore them out because they both fell asleep on the way home.

All in all it was a good day. Not too much to complain about. Tomorrow it is supposed to hit 60! Now that is something to look forward to!

My first Blog!!!

So, this is the first blog I have ever written. For some reason I feel kind of nervous about it. I know that is really dumb considering right now Amanda is the only one who even knows my new blog spot exists. I have never been a very eloquent (I spelled that right on my first try!) writer. I have things going through my head but for some reason I have a really hard time putting them into words. I love reading other peoples blogs. It is not something I do very often but when I do I always feel sort of guilty for not having one. I am thinking it will be a good way for my friends and family to keep up with me and my boys and just get a peek into what our day to day lives look like. I am also not known for having the greatest memory so this may be a good way to record milestones for Evan and Noah. We will just have to wait and see if I actually keep up with this on a regular basis. Right now my biggest obstacle is figuring out how this web site works. I hear my boys waking up so I better bring my first blog to a close. I think I will get back on when they go to bed later to write more. It was a fairly eventful day and I for some reason I feel like I should write about it. Thanks for reading Amanda! :-)
